SESSIONS: CON VERSE SENSATIONS is a two-part book/ event that follows in the tradition of autonomous artist-run schools. It is a response to the imbedded canons, institutional bureaucracy, inflated tuition, and increasing privatization of American art education and its affect on artistic production.

This first iteration sets out to pervert the field of knowledge production by transforming an old Odd Fellows meetinghouse in upstate New York into a weekend art/ school/ camp/ clinic/ cruising / slumberparty from June 19-21 2009. Together, we will create a space for fully participatory and self-initiated workshops that bring intimacy and urgency back into learning.

The book is a compilation of participants' individual and collaborative work acting as a preface to our coming together. In the spirit of gift economies, we have made a print-it-yourself copy available here for free download and widespread dissemination. If you are interested in learning more about the project, please email: mail (at) thesessions.info
